Bitterly Cold
Heavy Snow

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 2nd March 2018
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Remaining very cold, if not bitterly cold with further snow in places

Good morning,

It's a bitterly cold start to the day across many areas with overnight snow still expected across SW England and Wales in particular, while snow showers continue to feed into Scotland and perhaps NE England maintaining some very large accumulations here. Bitterly cold in an a fresh or strong E or SE'ly wind.

Through the afternoon and some further rain, sleet and snow will move into S Scotland and with then a region of mainly light or moderate snow moving northwards into the Midlands and N England during the end of the afternoon and into the evening, while snow showers continue further north across Scotland. All areas very cold still, especially in the wind.

Into Friday evening and overnight and a widespread severe frost is again expected in the north, while a band of mainly light or moderate snow continues to slowly move northwards across N England. Clearer across S England overnight and not quite as cold as of late either, but still with snow showers feeding in to parts of SCotland in association with a further east or south-easterly wind.
