Morning Call - December 31, 2017
Wet and Windy
Showery Later

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 31st December 2017
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Wet and windy start, showery and cooler from the west later

Good morning,

It's a very unsettled start to the day, especially across Scotland where overnight gales have been present, also across parts of N England too. Wet and windy weather across northern areas will continue to clear away though into the N Sea in the coming hours. Wet weather across S and SE England will also clear away and then many areas becoming somewhat drier and brighter, from the west, through the morning.

Through the afternoon and a general mixture of sunshine and blustery showers are expected these most frequent and heaviest across northern and western areas, perhaps wintry on northern hills at times too. Plenty of dry weather though across more southern and eastern areas of England with some sunny spells.

Little change into the evening and overnight as showery weather continues to dominate, especially across more northern and western areas where longer spells of rain are possible and perhaps with some wintry precipitation on northern hills too. A chilly evening and night ahead, especially across northern areas with local frost and ice, particularly across Scotland.

Matthew
