Widepread severe gales
Heavy rain & showers

Sunday
Some early morning bright spells in eastern areas of the country this morning. Cloud quickly increasing though, as will the winds. Rain, heavy in Ireland and western areas of the UK, together with severe gales and gusts of over 70mph on western and southern coasts. The rain quickly sweeps eastwards, becoming heavy into the afternoon. Staying very windy throughout the afternoon too. Heavy showers following into Ireland and western areas, some thundery and squally. Highs at 9 to 12C.

Sunday Night
A windy start to the night, the gales slowly easing. Rain, remaining heavy in much of England and Wales gradually shifting south and east. Heavy showers in northern and western Scotland, with some showers for western areas of the UK and Ireland too. Lows at 4 to 9C.

Monday
A mix of sunny spells and heavy showers on Monday. Showery troughs passing east bringing a risk of thunder and hail. An occluded front over northern Scotland with cloud and rain here. A tendency for the showers to be fading away from England and Wales in the afternoon, better sunny spells here. Some sunshine too in Ireland, although heavy showers in the west turning thundery and squally through the afternoon. Highs at 8 to 10C in Scotland and Ireland, 11 to 13C elsewhere.

Tuesday
Morning showery rain on Tuesday across East Anglia and southeast England, clearing east. A bright morning for all other areas with a scatering of showers, most in the west. The afternoon brings further bright or sunny spells but some showers to. Again, most of the showers will be in the west. The showers could be heavier in western Ireland later. Highs at a cooler 8 to 11C.
