Slack low pressure influences Britain and Ireland. Morning rains in central and southeast England soon clear. Local patchy showery rain comes and goes in western areas. Grey skies and some low-level fog will dominate though glimpses of sun for most as well. Winds very light for most of the day. Breeze will begin to strengthen in southwest England and Ireland in the later. Highs will be 4-6°C across most areas, up to 8°C in west Ireland.


Wednesday Night
Showery rain continues on the west coast and gradually increases in frequency as a front approaches from the west. Winds increase overnight as well from the west, greatest increase in the southwest. In the later/early morning hours, a band of strong rain slips eastward across Ireland as winds continue to increase. Lows of 1°C in many places, some local areas just below freezing in northern England and Scotland. Low of 4°C in Ireland.


Thursday
Some local overnight frosts in northern England and Scotland soon thawing. Showery rains in Britain soon become moderate sustained rains for a time as the front passes to the east. Some seaward hills may see moments of intense rain, particularly in Wales and Scotland. Higher terrain may see snow. Rains mostly clear away after dusk, though may persist for longer in western Scotland. Showers for a time in Ireland clearing for alternating cloud and sun. Winds will continue to increase through the day. Temperatures ranging from 4°C in the north to 9°C in the south.


Friday
A deep low pressure system approaches Ireland overnight. Strong winds and heavy rain over all of Ireland through the night, arriving in Britain in the earlier hours, first from the southwest. Heavy rain and strong winds will reach all of Britain by dawn. Gales likely around western coasts and hills, risk of storm force winds near northern Ireland, the Irish Sea, and west Scotland. Some snow over the Scottish mountains, possible on higher ground further south as well. Rain clearing in central and southern England, continuing further north, though remaining very windy everywhere. Ireland and England will experience highs of up to 11°C as the storm passes. Otherwise, highs near 5°C.
